Opening Office 97 files gives "already open" message

I have installed 6 machine with Windows XP Professional
and Office 97. If I double click a .doc file, Word 97
starts opening the file but it seems that it opens twice
because I receive " the file is already open" message.
After this Word 97 works fine.
No problem if I start Word 97 and open the .doc from File
menu > Open > and pointing to the file to be opened.
Any idea how to correct ?

I think I remember this from some time back - Open Word 97 go to
Tools/Options and select the "File Locations Tab". In the File types list
select Startup and click on Modify. Check that the startup path is...
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Startup. If it is not, browse to it
and select it. Hit OK.

Good luck,

Ed

Not sure if you received an answer for this ... i was
experiencing the same problem. I came across the
solution while i was searching for a slowness problem ...
here it is:

Remove the "Office Startup" shortcut from the Startup
Folder (ie: Start->All Programs->Startup->Office Startup)
Reboot your machine ... problem disappears (at least for
me).
Hope this helps. Leroy
