Opening files created using Win 98, ME

When I open user files (ie Excell, Word), XP assigns them
as read-only. I have hundreds of files, how can I make
them all active and loadable without user interaction?
 
You can use the attrib command to remove the attributes from the folders.
Users shouldnt have issues with read only files though, they just wont be
able to add information.
