Opening existing files

We recently loaded Access 2000 on to a computer that didn't have it in our
office. We have a file saved that has our contact database in it. When we try
and open that file, it acts like it's going to open but it just sits there
with a grey screen. Any ideas on why it won't open?

How are you trying to open it? Try opening Access by itself, then use
File... Open to open the database. Do you get any error message?

Also try holding down the Shift key to bypass any startup code.

The other thing to check - though I'd expect to get an error message
rather than a blank screen - is to be sure that the contact database
is in 2000 format (rather than 2002/3 format).
