By fluke I once succeeded to open an xls (Excel) file sent to me with Microsoft Works (xls). I do not have Excel on my PC and would like to know the procedure (to open xls files in xlr).

Please help.

Many thanks.

Definitely a fluke. Usually have to open the file in Works. Save it in a
different format and then open the newly saved file in Excel.

There are free Excel viewers available from Microsoft for viewing (but not
editing) Excel files:

I'd like this answer also can anyone help

Logan, the spreadsheet formats for the two programs are not compatible. See
previous answer from this thread that I've pasted below:

NOTE: About a year ago, I ran across a shareware converter online.
Downloaded the trial version. It worked okay but not great. Sorry I do not
remember the name but if you run a search on google it may turn something
up for you.
