Opening control panel

When I click on Start then control panel, the list comes
up vertically I then have to right click then open to get
it to appear as it should, can anyone help please

Hi there,

Right click on an empty spot on the taskbar and select
properties. Under the "Start Menu" tab...

If you're using the (XP) start menu:

Click on customize. Under the "Advanced" tab, the box
titled "Start Menu items", the control panel should be
the very first item there. Place a dot/balloon/thingy
beside "Display as a link". Click OK, OK.

If you're using the classic start menu:

Click on customize. Under "Advanced Start menu options"
remove the check mark beside "Expand Control Panel".
Click OK, OK.
