opening attchments in "Works"

Pauline

I`ve just uninstalled the trial "microsoft home office and student" from my
computer because the trial had run out and I didn`t want the program because
its very expensive, on my old computer I always found "works" did me fine,
but I can`t open the documents that are attached to my e-mails connected with
my job, before I uninstalled "word" they were opening okay in that program
but because the trial had run out I couldn`t save them, print them or copy
and paste them, I was hoping the attchments would open in works like they did
on my old computer, but I get a message that says "create an association in
the set association control panel" what is that!? I`m affraid I`m not
computer savy, please help, I need to read the attached documents to start my
work on Monday :(

Thank you

Hi, first thing to try is to ensure that WM is set as the Default mail
client..

Close WM.

Go to default programs, either from the start menu or in Control
Panel>Set your default programs>wait for the list of programs to
populate>select Windows Mail and ensure that it is set as default for all
its protocols

Also while in the Default Programs, click on "Set program
access and computer defaults." Select Custom, and
then select Windows Mail & Click OK.

Do the same for Works

Thank you very much, I`ll have a go at that, it`s very kind of you to reply :)

Get yourself a copy of MS Office 2000 from eBay - very cheap and it will do
all you want (except profit hungry Microsoft doesn't include the Access
database). Alternatively, use Open Office, which is compatible with MS
Office and is either free or can be downloaded for a small fee. It also
includes a database. Do a search on Google.

1. Install Word Viewer:

2. Go to http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/downloads/maincatalog.aspx | Scan
for & install any updates offered | After the installation(s) complete,
click on the CHECK FOR OTHER UPDATES button & install them, too.

3. Right-click on a DOC file that you've already saved to your HDD (e.g., in
My Documents folder) | select OPEN WITH | Select WORD VIEWER & check the
"Always open with..." option.
