Opening an Excel 2002 worksheet in Excel 2003

I created a spreadsheet using Excel 2002 (XP). I need to open that
spreadsheet using Excel 2003. When I try to open the 2002 spreadsheet in
Excel 2003, I can only see a portion of the spreadsheet and cannot scroll. I
could copy and paste each sheet from the 2002 spreadsheet to a new 2003
spreadsheet, but I cannot even see the tabs at the bottom. How do I open the
2002 spreadsheet in Excel 2003? I do not see a way to convert from the 2002
format to 2003. Thanks. BT

- Don,
Thank you for your reply. I tried saving it as 'Microsoft Excel 97 -
Excel 2003 & 5.0/05 workbook. Still does not work.

Don,
I did not see an option for xl 2002. When I do Save AS, it does not give
me an option for xl 2002. thanks BT

Just to File=>Save.

or do File=>SaveAs and give it a new name. In the type dropdown, select the
top item Microsoft Excel Workbook (*.xls)

xl97 - xl2003 all use the same format - so format should not be an issue.

the other format you talked about save two copies of the workbook in the
same file. one in the xl97 to xl2003 format and one in the xl5 to xl95
format.

Now why you are having problems going from xl2002 to xl2003, I can't say.
the missing tabs could just be a setting in Tools=>Options=>View check
Sheet Tabs under Windows Options.

It is also possible that the sheet is too big for the display area (if it is
a floating window rather than maximized). Maximize the workbook - does that
help?

Hi bryan

i know you said that you created the file in 2002 but is there any chance
that the file was created originally in a version prior to 2002 and contains
a map? AFAIK the only files that will have problems opening in 2003 are
those with a map in it as this is no longer supported. 2002 files
(according to help) will open them - but you can't create maps any more -
but in 2003 help says it will have problems opening the file.

if this isn't the problem (and from what you said, i don't think it is) and
if there is no code (macros) that could be affecting its opening and if it
doens't contain sensitive information if you'ld like to zip it & email it
direct to me i'll see how i go opening it in 2003 and then if it works i can
resave it for you. (julied_ng @ hcts dot net dot au)
