Opening a read only data base file

I saved an existing data base file and placed it on my server, when I did, no
one can edit the file it is a read only file. I have tried giving
permissions, that does not help

Hi Terry,

try right mouse click on the mdb and on the menu goto to properties at the
bottom, check that the read-only box is un-ticked. If you are running
windows 2003 server any shares that you create are read-only by default.
