Whenever I try to open a microsoft powerpoint document that I have downloaded
it keeps telling me that powerpoint cannot read C:// the document name and
then when I click on the help option it tells me that the document might not
be in ppt. But i know that its saved in ppt. Another thing is whenever I
click file open in powerpoint and then click on the saved powerpoint on my
desktop it shows a preview of the 1st slide but it will not open?

In that case, I would open PPT and then go to Help/Check for Updates.
Install SP-1 for Office 2003.

This is a critical patch for Office 2003, as it resolves most of these
"can't open file" problems along with quite a few others.
