Opening a Form w/ Subform as clean slate

When the form is opened, and nothing is inputted into the search field,
the subform has the first record viewable. The search field and subform
are linked. Is there a way to make it so nothing comes up when the form
is loaded?
 
I should reiterate. I don't want the subform displaying anything until
the search field of the form has data in it.
 
I've tried using VBA for this. I want the subform to be visible when
the search field is occupied, but when it isn't to be hidden. If that
helps even more.
