opening a file in word

When I try to open my file in Word that contains pictures, all that is there
are small boxes and symbols. How do I correct this to see the pics? I want to
make stationary from them but I need to see them!

Are you are trying to open a .jpg, .tif, or other graphic file
type using the File->Open command in Word? If yes, then don't do
that... instead, use the Insert->Picture->FromFile command in
Word.
