Opening a document

Somehow I've messed up my 'Open' menu option. After I've started Word when I
click on the 'Open' menu command, instead of getting a 'Browse' dialog to
find the file I want to open, Word automatically opens this one document I
worked on about 2 weeks ago (yes, this has been going on for about 2 weeks).
I've tried doing a repair, that didn't work. How do I get Word to go back to
it's default action of presenting the 'Browse' dialog? Thanks in advance
for any help you can provide.

Sounds like you have two problems here: Your Open button (if that's really
the one you're using) is performing the FileNewDefault command. And your
Normal.dot has a document saved in it. To solve the second problem first,
see http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/BlankDocNotBlank.htm.

Then rebuild the Open button. Open Tools | Customize. Drag the current Open
button off the toolbar (since it's clearly not doing what it's supposed to).
Then locate the Open command in the File category on the Commands tab and
drag it to the toolbar to replace the bad one.

If this doesn't work, look in Tools | Macro | Macros to see if there is a
macro named FileOpen. If so, it is hijacking the Open command and will have
to be deleted.
