Open Word other than My Documents

I hope this is the right group, if not please let me know.
Can any one tell me how to get my Word and Excel programs to open up
someplace other than "my documents"?

Wrong group. You set it to open up anywhere you like under Options.

In Word, select from the menu bar:

Tools - Options - File Locations - Documents - Modify.

Word.......Tools>Options>File Locations. Modify the path in "Documents".

Excel......Tools>Options>General. Modify "default file location".

Maybe this is what you mean?

In Excel, choose TOOLS, OPTIONS, GENERAL, and change
DEFAULT FILE LOCATION.

In Word, choose TOOLS, OPTIONS, FILE LOCATIONS, GILE
TYPES, DOCUMENTS, MODIFY, and enter the FILE NAME.
