OPEN WORD OR EXCEL NO SHEET OR DOC

I remember that in the first version of Microsoft Office there was a way that
you could put a code or something behind the Target exe line in the
properties of word and excel to have them open without a blank sheet (excel)
and without a blank doc (word). Can that still be done??? I can not
remember what it was, can anyone tell me??

Adding \n to the command line will open without a document.
