Open without password

O.K. I know I may have asked this before but it didn't show up in my search.
A few months ago someone told me how to open an access database by holding
down a key and then clicking on the file. What key was that again. I need to
do some more work on the file. THANKS

I;ve tried SHIFT and F11 without luck

Well, you don't really tell us what you are trying to do.

You just said someone told you how to open a file while holding down a key.
What is it you expect to happen? The "shift-bypass" that I told you will
prevent any auto-open forms or macros from running, will return all menus to
the default, will prevent the database window from being hidden, etc. It
basically gets around all the "startup" options.

If that is not what you are trying to do, then you would need to give us
more details. The shift key WILL NOT get you around signing on to the
workgroup.

If a password is in effect, there is no bypass, you need the password.

SHIFT only supresses auto-exec macros, etc., and even then the developer
could easily have turned that functionality off (i.e., set things up so the
"SHIFT bypass" is ignored).

If it is a home brew password likely the shift key alone will work. If
it is a password protected file or user level security, there is no easy way
to get in. That's why you need to write down all your passwords, remember
them or not use them.

I must have changed something because several months ago when I was playing
with the file I held down "I think" the SHIFT key. the Database open fine
without prompting for the password. I'll have to research something else.
I'm basically looking at a small database that will be combined with another
corporate SQL database so I need to have a look at how the tables and such
are setup.

maybe you just need to hold it down SOONER

this gives me trouble sometimes; just remember to hold it down sooner
right when you launch the program; all the way until you see the db
window
