this is probably a very easy problem to fix, but i dont
know how to. so anyways, its hard explaining what im
having problems with, but heres an easy way to do it. or
copy and
paste "http://shell.windows.com/fileassoc/0409/faq.asp"
onto ur address bar. read question 4, and at the end
where it tells u to choose from the "open with" choices,
how do i remove programs from that list? help qould be
greatly appreciated.

This utility clears the list and resets it back to default entries.

If you're referring to the Choose Program dialog, see:
Hide or show an application in the Open-with Choose Program dialog:

what i actually want to do is to take it "off"
the "recommended" items list as well as the "other" list.
when u right click and choose "whats this?", it says they
r programs registered to the windows. is there any way we
could unregister them or something" or at least take them
off the lists.

Open Regedit and goto:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\<programname>

In the right-pane, add a REG_SZ named 'NoOpenWith' with blank data assigned
to it.
