Removing Open With Programs

paste "http://shell.windows.com/fileassoc/0409/faq.asp"
onto ur address bar. read question 4, and at the end
where it tells u to choose from the "open with" choices,
how do i remove programs from that list?
i dont mean to just make it hidden or to move it to
the "others" list from the "recommended" list. i want to
actually remove it altogether. so the application wont be
one of the avaiable choices unless i browse

How to clear the open with list:



In the registry against the extension concerned - eg .xyz look in
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.xyz\OpenWithList

and at
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
Explorer\FileExts\.xyz\OpenWithList

delete the Application's entry

its not in the open with list in any of those places.
thats bebause its not a recommended program, it isnt a
recommended program for any file ext. its in the others
list and i cant take it out

Sorry, that's the only tweak I have for the open with box.
