In Windows 98 you used to be able to change the program you ran another
program with. I think it was Ctrl, right click, or something like that.
How can I do that in Windows XP? I'm trying to open Yahoo Messenger
using Internet Explorer instead of Netscape (which is my default browser
and I don't want to change it). Is there any way I can do this? Thanks
much....JB

If you right-click a file, "Open with" should always be visible, since
this has been changed with Windows XP. In earlier Windows versions you
needed to press SHIFT while right-clicking the file.

Thanks for the reply but when I right click 'open with' is not there,
only 'open'....jb

If your are talking about file associations, start Windows Explorer and
highlight
the file. Then in the address bar click File and then Properties.

thank you, I did that but there is nowhere to change what it starts with.

You can try two things.

If an unassociated file then Open is the same as Open With, and if you associate the file Open With will appear when Open means a real program.

Some files are listed not to show open with. If we knew what file?

Yahoo Messenger doesn't open in any browser.. it is a stand alone
application..
