I remote into some customers XP machine and turn on their firewall for them.
Before I click OK, I go into the settings area and chek the "Remote Desktop"
checkbox. Then, and only then, I press the Apply button. Instant firewall
on, remote desktop never misses a beat and I can still assist them when
needed.
However, I somehow doubt that is what you meant - perhaps if you give an
example of what you want to do or how you want to do it.. Is it during some
unattended installation? Is it through registry values you are wanting to
do this? What ports are you wanting to leave open? etc.
Actually, that is almost exactly what I want to do. The only difference is that I'm using VNC. I want to be able to open the VNC ports before enabling it so as not to kick myself out.
Thanks so much for you pompt reply. I feel a little silly knowing how simple the solution was now.
