open office 2003 emails in office 2007

I had saved a number of emails to my computer when I had Office 2003 and then
hyperlinked those emails to a spreadsheet. Now that I have office 2007 I am
unable to open those old emails.

Does anybody know how to open office 2003 emails in office 2007??

Any pointers would be very much appreciated.

Where are the old messages located?

The location of the 2003 messages hasn't changed, they are on our company
server. Those that have office 2003 can still open the office 2003 emails but
now our office is upgrading to 2007 i'm sure more people will come across the
issue that happened to me

I mean are they in an Outlook PST, an Exchange mailbox, or in a Windows
folder as .msg files?

Can you double-click any in Windows Explorer and open them? Can you drag
any back into Outlook?

They don't open up in Windows explorer when I double click on them. I also
tried dragging the email back into outlook but the email didn't drag across.

It seems that there is some sort of conflict between office 2007 and 2003

I don't know of any that would produce the symptoms you see. What if you
reset the files to explicitly open with Outlook? RIght-click, choose Open
WIth, and choose Outlook.

The files are already set to be open by outlook so that doesn't appear to
work. There seems to be some sort of problem with outlook 2007 opening
outlook 2003 emails.

on a share drive. Opening the office 2003 emails in outlook 2003 wasn't a
problem but now with outlook 2007 the 2003 emails don't open

Presumably these are .msg files? What happens if you drag one into Outlook?

Strange, I attempted that but it didn't work. I also changed the default
program to wordpad and then changed it back to outlook but it still didn't
work to open 2003 emails.
