Open extra Win Explorer window

I have set Windows Explorer to open any new views in the *same*
window.

What key(s) do I hold down to open an extra 'instance' of Windows
Explorer when I double click on a folder in the folder tree?

If I right click and choose Explore on a folder in the left pane, I
get a second instance of Explorer. Application key (on a Windows
keyboard) and press X is the keyboard equivalent.

If I do the same in the right pane (mouse or keyboard), it uses the
same window.
