Sorry, wrong newsgroup. This newsgroup is for Microsoft Access, a database
application.

However, to open an Excel file, you need to have Microsoft Excel installed
on your computer. If you aleady have Excel installed and you can't open the
file, suggest you re-post your question in one of the Excel newsgroup.
Suggest you also include your OS version, your Excel version and error
message when you open the file (no one can help if don't describe the
symptoms!).

OTOH, if you don't have Excel installed, also post to Excel newsgroup as
there may be Excel file "reader" that you can use to read the file. If this
is the case, explain clearly on your post that you don't have Excel software
and you are looking for a "Reader".

This newsgroup is for Microsoft Access database software, though it is easy
to get here "accidentally" from the online user interface. Unless you are
having trouble using the spreadsheet file from Access, you'd have better
luck asking in a newsgroup dedicated to Excel.

But, just a stab in the dark: do you have Excel on the machine? Windows XP
alone is not enough to open an Excel spreadsheet.
