A strange problem has occurred. When I have finished downloading a file from
any website, the final window gives the option of "Open File", "Open Folder"
or "Close".
If I click "Open Folder" I get the window asking what program I want to use
to open this folder ?? This also happens if I use Search and find a
particular folder I want to open. However I can open all folders in Windows
Explorer.
How can I fix this problem??

Try this:
In Wndows Explorer: Tools menu > Folder Options > File Types tab > Click
the icon [NONE] File Folder > Click the Advanced button bellow > Bellow
"action:" click open > Set Default button > OK button. If "open" is not
present under actions click the New... button > type "open" on the Action
field and on the Application used to perform action: click the Browse button
and browse to Windows/explorer.exe

Many thanks - this has worked a treat.
However when I click > the icon [NONE] File Folder > Advanced button > the
other actions listed are: 'find' & 'Open with Fine Pix Viewer' (This is a
viewer I have loaded for my Fuji camera photo downloads).
If I click on any of these actions I am not able to Edit or Remove these
actions because these buttons are greyed out. Why is that ? Should this be
so ??

Those buttons are enabled when you are editing file types with extensions. On
the registered files types Extension column it says [NONE] for File Folder it
has no extension. The actions 'find' and your 'Open with Fine Pix Viewer' can
only be set as default but you should not or you will have problems. Or your
Search companion and Fine Pix Viewer will open when opening a file folder.
