Hi....

I have this folder full of drawings collected on the net for different
purposes.
Mostly I use them to freshen up my emails.

When I fire up my Windows Explorer and right-click on a BMP-file and choose
the
"Open in..."-option and then choose "Internet Explorer" in order to view it
in
the Internet Explorer for a swift copying into the clipboard, the file is
always opened in MS Paint no matter what.

How come?

I run Windows XP Pro Norwegian edition with all updates.

I have tried this advice from a nice man named Robert Aldwinkle:
"
I suspect that you may have messed up the default file type
by using that right-click override. In XP that could be repaired
by Run... (e.g. press Win-R and enter:)

regsvr32 /i shimgvw.dll
"
But it didn't do the trick...:-(

Right\click on BMP then Copy, and Paste where you want BMP files are
normally opened in Paint, or another picture application.

IE and Explorer are the same program (it has two modes). It is treating it like you dbl clicked it. Drag it to the titlebar of IE or set IE as the application used to open BMPs.

Well I am mistaken. David's suggestion is right on.. But I had the same
thing happen when I tried to use Open with... using IE. Instead of IE
opeing the bmp MSPAINT did. So what you experienced is normal.
