open a 2003 pst in outlook 2007

Hello,
I have not been able to successfully move my Outlook 2003 .pst file over to
Outlook 2007. What I did was close Outlook 2003 on my Windows XP machine and
went to the location of the .pst file. I then burned that .pst to DVD (since
it was so big). I put the DVD in an XP machine with Outlook 2007 on it and
tried to import it and get the error "Outlook.pst is not a personal folders
file." It is located in the same folder as the original 2007 .pst file yet it
is renamed. What am I doing incorrect?? Please help.

Outlook needs read/write access to pst files. Copy it to your HDD, remove
any Read-Only attribute. Then in outlook do File-Open-Outlook Data File. Do
NOT use the "import function". Why?

Here's why. Importing PST's will lose:
1. Custom Forms
2. Custom Views
3. Connections between contacts and activities
4. Received dates on mail
5. Birthdays and anniversaries in calendar
6. Journal connections
7. Distribution Lists

Opening a PST file will preserve all of these. That is why we do not advise
people to import a native file into Outlook.
