Only receiving mail when hitting send/receive button

I'm running outlook 2003, and I am not receiving mail automatically - I have
to hit the send/receive button. Is there a way to configure outlook so that
this is not neccesary?

Make sure Outlook is on-line mode; File-> deselect Work Offline.

Otherwise include more details like at least your account type.

And make sure you have set up automatic send receive every 10 minutes or more
in tools, options, Mail setup, Send/receive button.
