Only hearing sound with headphones

I can only hear sound when I plug in my headphones. It is incredibly
annoying. I see that quite a few people have had this problem and I was
hoping someone had figured out the answer by now. If anybody knows, PLEASE
help me.

Possibly your external speakers are not powered up. IE wall plug out.
