OneCare vs Anti-Malware vs Internet Security vs Total Protection

Brent Heyes

Hey guys,

I have three Windows XP computers at home and am looking at the simplest
and most robust solution of managing virus and spyware threats. I would
also like some intergrated spam filtering if possible and as always,
keep the cost down.

Which of the following products would you recommend and why?

- Microsoft OneCare
- AVG Anti-Malware
- Symantec Internet Security
- McAfee Total Protection

Am I missing any?

Thanks,

-Brent

No, no, no, and no.
Am I missing any?

For your AV; NOD32
For your Spyware, etc.; CounterSpy or SpySweeper
For your Firewall; Norton Personal Firewall ( *NOT* Norton Internet
Security!!!)

With three computers you should have a router, your choice of wired or
wireless. The programs below are free for home use:

Software firewall: ZoneAlarm free <<http://tinyurl.com/kzq>

Antivirus: Either Avast, <http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html> or
Antivir, <http://www.free-av.com/>.

Anti-malware, any/all of:
AdAware, <http://lavasoft.element5.com/software/adaware/>
Spybot Search & Destroy, <http://www.spybot.info/en/index.html>
a-squared <http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/free/>
Superantispyware, <http://www.superantispyware.com/>

I have all of the above anti-malware programs on my system since they look for
different types of malware, with some overlap. Needless to say, download the
latest updates before scanning.

You cheap bastard, buy something that works instead of having all that crap
on your PC.

It works for me, not my fault if you don't know better.

OBTW my parents were married. Can you say the same for yours?
