One version of WindowsXp TOO many!

Hi, I have a corrupt version of WindowsXp Pro on my "C" Drive and a "good"
version of WindowsXp Pro on my "H" Drive (which is on a 2nd Hard Drive) and
that is one version of Windows TOO many.
I would like to Delete / Remove the corrupt version of Windows (that is on
the "C" Drive) and MOVE the good version of Windows from the "H" Drive, to
the "C" Drive.
Is this feasible and if so, how do I do this?
Thanks, Bob

Ghost the good XP and unghost it in Bad XP ..
I am refering to GHOST from Symntec
If your BAD XP boots you might aswell want to try recover from the recovery
console.it works like a charm .

Does Ghost makes all the corrections needed to change the entire install
from H: to C:? If so that is a great piece of software.

You need to do this:
1. Boot into the good version of WinXP.
2. Rename c:\Windows to c:\Windows.bad
3. Wait a week.
4. If all is well, delete c:\Windows.bad
5. Use notepad.exe to open the hidden file c:\boot.ini.
6. Remove the reference to the bad version of Windows.

Since you installed WinXP on drive H:, it must always run off drive H:.
Ghosting it to drive C: will not give you a working system.
Furthermore, you must not remove or format drive C:. If you do then
you will no longer be able to boot into WinXP.

It is actually possible to run WinXP off the one disk. However,
the process of getting it there is rather involved and requires
in-depth knowledge of the Windows boot process and how
to modify certain registry settings. Not recommended for novices.

No, it does not, and that's why it will fail.

Reinstall XP on the C drive, then reinstall all applications and restore
data from backups.

Thanks for the help guys, I have Norton SystemWorks (includes Ghost) but have
never used it and appearently Ghost will not help in this scenario. Pegasus,
before I follow thru with your suggested approach, I have a question. You
wrote "you must not remove or format drive C:. If you do then you will no
longer be able to boot into WinXP". I thought (again, a novice approach),
that I could FDISK the "C" Drive and then perform a CLEAN ReInstallof
WindowsXp on the newly Formatted "C" Drive. That way I will have TWO workable
versions of WindowsXp (one on "C" and one on "H" and I can then (safely)
Delete the version of WindowsXp from the "H" Drive. I obviously would like
to have (a WORKABLE version of) WindowsXp on the "C" Drive but you are
telling me to leave good enough alone and NOT "play with fire".
Thanks again guys, Bob

My warning related to the preservation or your existing
Windows installation. If you decide to re-install Windows
then you can certainly format drive C:.

Thanks guys, the way that I got into this mess was that I previously tried to
repair WindowsXp Pro on the "C" Drive and got a Blue Screen and the only way
that I was able to access Windows was in Safe Mode. So I KNOW that I need
to replace my WindowsXp Pro "C" Drive configuration. Are there any links or
step by step insructions that describe how to do this i.e. specifically, do I
use FDISK or Format, how do I configure my Internet connection, do I need to
reinstall ALL my programs and apps or can some of them be
resurrented,...???? Thanks again for your help guys, Bob
