One-space default between sentences.

Need one space default between sentences in Word. Possible?

There's no such thing as a default for spaces between sentences, whether
one, two, or otherwise. What you type is what you'll get.

There is, however, a setting for the grammar checker that will flag the
"wrong" number of spaces as an error, which you'll have to correct manually.
In Tools > Options > Spelling & Grammar, click the Settings button and
select the desired number for "Spaces required between sentences". If you
want the green squigglies to appear, make sure you have enabled "Check
grammar as you type".

You can run a Replace that searches for a period followed by two spaces, and
changes it to a period followed by one space; then click Replace All. You
can record this as a macro, and assign it to a button or keystroke.

If you have received a document with variable spaces or are having trouble
training yourself to space just once, here are two approaches:

1. You can have the grammar checker alert you to deviant spacing.

2. You can use Find and Replace to find two spaces and replace with one.

Thank you! I'm copy-editing a work that has a mixed bag of spaces. Helps to
have a quick-fix to the problem. Ya'll have been helpful.

With Find and Replace, do I have to highlight the section I want to correct?
I tried typing in the "two spaces" and replacing it with "one" but it did
nothing. What else can I do?

If you have text selected, then only the selected text will be searched. If
you have no text selected, the entire document will be searched. Are you
sure you're just typig two spaces into the "Find what" box and one space
into "Replace with," and neither box reflects any style or formatting? Both
boxes will appear empty. This works for me.

If they really are spaces inserted with the spacebar and not tabs etc, then
a *wildcard* replace of
([ ])@
with
\1

will replace all multiple spaces. If you want to limit to selected text,
then you must select that text first as indicated by Suzanne.
