So now, finally, I can run Windows Update successfully!
Things that are making no sense: when I click on Network, my Windows Vista Ultimate tells me that I am not connected to a network and that it cannot find a network to attach to.
However, I'm already attached to my network, called "RMGNET", and my Network, when opened does in fact show another workstation on the network! I am able to print on the workstation's attached printer and so forth, including opening and transferring files to the attached workstation. So then where is my icon for the actual network, and why does Windows Vista seem firmly convinced that I am not attached to a network on the one hand, but knows I am on the other?
My next problem is why does Notepad.exe not allow me to move and resize it like it used to, instead of the window allowing only for me to maximize it, although it is usable otherwise?
I can now run "SFC /scannow" successfully and it tells me that there are no problems.
So then where's my networking icon, and how common network.exe does not function properly (although WordPad.exe does function properly)?
