One last time, Walmart.com and Vista plus not seeing my post!

Ok, i first asked if anyone else was having problems with their Vista pc
connecting/loading Walmart.com. Mines not and there is nothing blocking the
walmart site at all. I have had to install Vista like a few times too many.
My pc specs are 1.5 gigs of ram, 160 gig hd, cable internet. Anyone have any
info for me about this?

2. Why is my post from earlier today (6/6/07) not even showing up at all? I
have recieved 2 emails saying that there was someone who replied, but when i
click on the link it gives me in my email, it just takes me to the Windows
Vista General Discussion thread and i don't even see the two threads i
started. What gives with this?

Someone please tell me something on how to fix these 2 problems please!!!.
Email me at "uponthis AT goowy.com". More than likely, i won't even see this
post after i click "POST" down at bottom.

To see if there are any routing issues between you and the server
hosting Walmart.com ....

Open a command prompt and type:

tracert walmart.com

and see what results you get

I find 'timouts'from hop 12 onwards but can still access the site from
the UK.

As for your posts not showing up I would suggest using a proper
newsreader instead of the website. Websites are pretty poor for forums
imo and you'll have more luck with a newsreader.

Hi, Uponthis.

I can see your two prior posts - and the several responses to them. That's
because I'm using a newsreader, rather than the web-based interface that you
are using. Some of the other responses have also suggested that you use a
newsreader and have given instructions for how to do that.

To see what we mean, just click here:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windows.vista.general

Unless blocked by something like a corporate firewall, that one click
should:
1. Start the newsreader that is built into your Windows/Vista operating
system, if it is not already running. That is Outlook Express for all
recent versions of Windows except Vista, when it was re-written and renamed
Windows Mail. (Some of us are testing the beta of the next re-write, called
Windows Live Mail, but WLM works almost the same way as WM.)

2. Create a News Account for the Microsoft Public News Server, which hosts
these public newsgroups. Access to that server is free and does not require
you to log on. The content of the messages there are exactly the same as in
Microsoft Communities. (You posted your messages to Communities; I'm
reading them and replying to this one in the WLM beta.)

3. Connect you to this m.p.w.vista.general newsgroup. In other words, it
will bring you right back to here, where you started, but via the
newsreader, not your browser.

4. Download the 300 latest messages in this newsgroup so that you can read
them, either in the Preview Pane or by Opening them. (I seldom actually
Open a message; I just read them, one after the other, in the Preview Pane.)

Afterwards, you can click Tools | Options and customize many parts of WM to
suit yourself. You might want to change that setting, on the Read tab, to
"Get 300 headers at a time". You can raise that as high as 1,000, or
UNcheck the box to get them all. (But be prepared for a looong wait to get
all the 50,000+ messages currently available in this newsgroup!) As with
many parts of Vista, you can sort messages in the Message List by clicking
on the header of any column. To find your messages, I first focused on one
From: Uponthis, then clicked the header of the From column, and all 3 of
your messages were listed together.

I don’t want to write a "how-to" book for using the newsreader. It's best
if you explore it for yourself. Most of us who have used newsgroups for
many years strongly prefer the newsreader to the browser interface. (There
are other newsreaders besides OE/WM/WLM, but I haven't used one of those in
several years.)

About the tracert walmart.com, didn't do that, because the XP pc connected to
the router as well loads walmart.com just fine. So something on this pc is
stopping it i do believe. I do have Spysweeper, Cyberhawk, and TrendMicro
installed on this pc (Vista).
