I have two laptops and a desktop running XP Pro and a wireless Palm TX.
All are on a wireless nextwork through a Lynksys router with a DSL
internet connection. Except for the desktop, all get quick domain name
resolution. With the desktop, whenever it has been idle for a while, I
have to try a web page 4, 5 or more times before it will get domain
name resolution. Once it does, it works well for all web sites. I have
checked the desktop's TCP/IP settings, and they match those of my XP
Pro laptops. Any suggestions on how I can solve this problem?

Thanks,

Jeff

when that happens, use nslookup to check the DNS status. If there are any errors, post back.

While DNS was not working, I got the following result from nslookup:

Server: nspue1.uninet.net.mx
Address: 200.33.146.209

DNS request timed out.
timeout was 2 seconds.

After DNS started working, I got:

Server: nspue1.uninet.net.mx
Address: 200.33.146.209

*** nspue1.uninet.net.mx can't find nslookup: Non-existent domain

When my desktop's DNS lookup is not working, here is the result I get
from nslookup:

Server: nspue1.uninet.net.mx
Address: 200.33.146.209

Once DNS starts working, I get the following message from nslookup:

nspue1.uninet.net.mx can't find nslookup: Non-existent domain
