One click to customize a view

Hi:
I've arranged a view for Tasks that are grouped by Start Date (ascending) &
sorted by Number (a user defined field) & then by Start Date (ascending).
Every so often, I accidentally click on a column header, which rearranges
the view. Then I have to sort it all over again.

Is there a way to save the view so that I could just click on it to restore
it...or perhaps a macro that would arrange it the way I want?

Aloha Phil,

Well, you didn't specify what version of Outlook you're using but...

....how about some variation of View | Current View | Define Views | New...then
create the view with the sort/groups you want. Anytime you make a change
(accidentally) and want to restore just go back to View | Current View and
select your custom view again.

Aloha Ben,
Thanks for the quick reply. I'm using Outlook 2003 SP2. I did define a view (I
call it Date Group). However, when I accidentally click on say, "Subject", it not
only sorts by subject (but keeps the same groups), but changes the saved view.
When I go to View | Arrange By | Current View | Date Group (my defined view), it's
already checked. Did I skip a step somewhere?

Aloha Ben:
Unfortunately, "No". Once I click on a task heading, it seems to redefine
the view. Even if I go to

View | Arrange By | Current View | Define Views

& select my "Date Group" view & click Apply, it doesn't change it. I don't
seem to be able to define a permanent sort order in my view. Is there
something I'm overlooking when I set up my view? Thanks for sticking with
me on this.

Aloha Phil,

Hmmm...tough one. :-( Unfortunately about the only thing I can suggest
at this point, other than "Be very careful where you click!" is to create
your Date Group view, then immediately make a copy of that Date Group view.
Only use the Date Group view and if it gets messed up go back into Define
Views, delete the Date Group view, then copy your Copy of Date Group View
as a new Date Group View.

I realize that's kinda a pain but should be easier than manually resetting
it each time.

Hi Ben:
Yes, that's a good idea. I may make several copies (as this happens about
once/week). Thanks for all the help.
