Once opened will not open after closing. Must restart computer to

Using Office 2003 professional on an XP system.
Outlook starts OK after a reboot.
If Outlook is closed it will not reopen.
Must reboot computer in order to get it to open

See if Outlook.EXE has actually terminated before trying to reopen it.

Hi,
thanks for the quick response.
The system in trouble is at a client's site.
It may take a few days to schedule a time to check it again.
Will get back to you as quick as I can.
Also, I tried to repair office before posting my question.

I checked. Outlook.exe was still running.
I terminated the process and then was able to open Outlook.
How do I fix the problem?

Brian,
I unchecked all the addins and deleted several programs that might have
linked to Outlook. This is the only computer in the network with this problem
so, I don't think Norton antivirus is causing it. Checked the Microsoft
knowlege base but, couldn't find anything. Do you think uninstalling and
reinstalling Office would help?

It's unlikely that uninstalling/reinstalling will help, but I don't suppose
it can hurt. First, though, just to test, I'd uninstall Norton. You can
always put it back later. When you do, though, do not add the email
scanning feature. You might also, before trying a reinstall, seeing if a
new mail profile or a Help>Detect and Repair changes anything.
