on start up in a particular user account

When I open my user account it opens straight away, but it then takes ages to
finish doing things which I can't fathom. I only know that it makes a gong
noise over and over again as if it is opening and closing lots of programmes.
There are three other users on the same PC and they don't have this problem.

Can anyone help?
