When I do a save as from Outlook it automatically opens
the C:\documents and settings\username\local
settings\temporary internet files\OLK1A folder. When I
try to search for the folder it doesn't seem to be in the
place specified. Can someone explain what the OLK1A
folder is and why it is hidden?

I think is a temp folder and the default location for message when you open
a attachment from Outlook.

This folder is the place where Outlook stores its temporary copies of
attachments that you open directly from Outlook without saving them first.
Attachments are contained within the message. If you open an attachment,
Outlook has to put it somewhere on the hard drive first before the
associated app can open it. This is the folder Outlook used for that.

It's hidden because Microsoft decided that %USERPROFILE%\Temporary Internet
Files should be a hidden folder. Files within that folder come and go
constantly and since Windows and IE manage it on their own, they figured
there's no reason you should need to see it. It's Bill Gates and his ilk
deciding you're too stupid to understand what's happening on your own PC or
too lazy to care.
