older USB scanners and vista

V

Vangellis

For those of you who have USB scanners that Vista has reported to be
incompatible, do the following.
1- Make sure you have your scanner installation CD
2- Unplug the USB lead from the scanner to the computer.
3- Restart Vista
4- Plug in the USB cable for the scanner to your computer.
5- Vista will state "new hardware found, searching for drivers" let this
finish, you will then be prompted for your driver software disc
6- Insert CD and click on next, Vista will install your scanner and it will
work fine in the Vista Camera and scanner wizard.
7- Please note, if your scanner came with software such as "panel" etc, this
will not work. However, at least you can use your so called obsolete
scanner.

what a bunch of baloney... lol

That doesn't work on most models of scanners that are out there! including
the hp 4400 jetscan that I had...

What the fanboy crowd don't want people to know it the Discover
process in pending legal actions against Microsoft resulted in many
highly embarrassing documents where big shots from Ballmer down were
discussing the impact of Vista generic scanner and printer drivers,
bemoaning the fact they would break the "special features" of many
name brand devices. So while they might work, they only work at the
basic level under Vista if at all, while they supported all the
special features through some device's control panel under XP.

I know this only too well since the Epson printer I was using and had
just bought a few months before worked fine under XP with all it's
features available, but Vista wouldn't see the Epson Printer Control
Center thus rendering the printer obsolete for the reasons I had
bought it.

The more FACTS you learn about Vista, and how Microsoft attempts to
hide the truth, the more reasons you have to be upset.

The more time you spend researching how Microsoft made decisions, the
more you see Vista was rushed out the door.

Old stuff becomes obsolete.
TV's, VCR's, Betamax, Cars, Pencil Shapeners, Telephones, Cell Phones, Zippo
Lighters.

Even if Vista had drivers for old dot matrix printers...then you would whine
about bloat.

Why don't you just reply..." Boo Hoo, life is hard...Boo Hoo."

Ya little bitch.

I have a HP 4400 Jetscan and it works just fine with vista, you must be
doing something wrong. Try looking in eventvwr to see where the problem is.
But I agree with you on one point, Vista is the biggest mistake Microsoft
ever made. Sales of Windows XP are outselling Vista by 3-1.

The more you post, the more obvious is becomes you just bluster. I
deal in FACTS and document what I've said. Like the emails I made

some of the emails months back. Read and learn.

Oh... I was "new" to the computer technology scene in 1966 when
computers filled rooms and used vacuum tubes. Probably before some
bitchy little dipshit like you was born.

Can you tell me the EXACT model number of your Epson printer.
I may possibly, almost certainly will have a vista compatible driver I can
send you that will enable you to use all the features of your epson machine
including the control centre.

LOL.
Google "genetics".

Its why some smokers live to be 90, while some non-smokers die of lung
cancer at 35.

Its also why some dumbasses think ubuntu is an OS.

Have an Epson Photo Perfection scanner that does a great job and with some
heroic effort, at first, finally got it to work with Vista. After almost
9 months, for some reason the Copy function suddenly decided to stop
working. As it turned out Epson offered, via NewSoft, a Smart Panel Upgrade
(for $9.95) to make the software compatible with Vista. Tried it, bought it
and now I have all functions of the scanner working per design intent.

Actually you seem to be the uneducated one. There never is a space
before the exclamation mark. Since you did it twice in a row, you
can't claim it is a typo.

I've noticed something... fanboys all seem to be horrible at spelling
and grammar. A simple way of judging your overall intelligence. I bet
you don't speak well either. Have you mastered dressing yourself yet
and are you toilet trained?

If you are dumb enough to think genetics alone will protect you from
excessive drinking you are only kidding yourself. Another common fault
of fanboys. They're all so gullible on so many topics. Again, the
topic comes back to intelligence... or total lack of any in your case
as you have repeatedly demonstrated. No wonder you admire Frank. He's
the king of Putz and is so damn stupid he doesn't know he's the
laughingstock of this newsgroup. Birds of a feather DO flock together.
