I'm trying to get my old hard drive to a new computer i just built. I want
to perform a Repair Installation, but the Windows XP Setup (booting from CD)
keeps on crashing after loading the setup files resulting in a BSOD.

What do you recommend to fix this problem?...shall i delete the C:\ system
files or something like that?

TIA
Neil

This is generally not a good idea. There are too many hardware differences.

What does the stop error say?

If you're building a new computer, you ought to get a new hard disk as
well, especially given how powerful and inexpensive they have become
recently.
The Windows System Registry contains many thousands of hardware-specific
settings about your old computer, and as such, the only way you can use the
old hard disk is to do a full system backup to a removable medium such as
tape or writable CDs, and then delete the primary partition, boot from the
Windows XP CD and start all over again with a clean install of Windows plus
rebuilding all your applications.
The advantage of this, of course, is that you get a 'clean' computer that
is right up-to-date with the opportunity to get rid of whatever you realize
you don't need.
