I have Vista premium installed on an old mobo with a pentium 4 3.0, To
improve performance I have aquired a new motherboard and dual-core
processor' can I move the vista on the hard-drive, the video adapter, modem
and memory, to the new mobo and cpu ? will I have to do a clean install?
will I have problems with microsoft?

Your system will boot to a blue screen (stop error) because
you have a totally different motherboard. You can try a
repair procedure and see if that works; otherwise a clean
install will be required. Choose the option to activate
by phone if you cannot successfully activate via the internet.

Hi Earl,

Unless your version was OEM, you should have no trouble activating it on the
new hardware. You will have to do a repair install however unless the
hardware is very similar (which I suspect it is not, otherwise what would be
the purpose?).
