Old Video card on new motherboard

Hi, I recently purchased hardware to put together a new system. I got
everything except a monitor and video card. My question is will I encounter
any problems using my old 16MB Diamond Viper NVidia AGP graphics card with
the new system?

New motherboard - ASUS 865PE Chipset Motherboard for Intel Socket 478 CPU,
Model P4P800 Deluxe

Memory - 256MBx2 DDR/3200

Processor - Pentium 4/ 3.0 GHz 800MHz , Hyperthreading technology

Old monitor - Trinitron 100HS, 17"

I'd prefer to wait a few months for a new card as I'm not a heavy gamer
right now.

Thanks in advance

Okay, I'm a bit hazy right now, but the new motherboard probably has an
AGP 3 (8x) slot. This slot runs at 1.5V IIRC. Your card probably won't
work in it. However, if the card will physically fit in the slot (ie-
it's keyed correctly) then odds are that it will work. I'm so tired. So,
so tired.

I'm with Sooky here. The odds, that 16MB videocard is 3.3V, are
overwhelming. Your new board will only work with 1.5V cards.

Hi,
I have an ATI Radeon 7200, AGP 4x card in my P3 box. I plan to upgrade to a
P4, AGP 8 box in a few months. Will that card likely still work? (I don't do
gaming). Thanks.

I have a Radeon 7000 (Older than yours) in a 1.5v only MB no problems at
all.

In short the answer should almost certainly be yes.

Hope this helps

Should be fine.
