Old user account reactivation

Hello

I have had to re-install Windows XP Sp2. In doing so, when the time came,
it failed to recognise the two user account profiles already on the harddisk.
I have had to create another. Is there any way that these 2 user accounts
can be "imported", as the data/files/settings are still on the harddisk.

Account names are aliases for Security IDs..XP never reuses Security IDs.
Thus, your only way to recover the data is to follow Leonard's advice.
