Jake

Hi,

I recently had to reformat my drive and in my last installation of Xp Pro I
managed to get windows 2000 style file permissions on my folders. What I
mean is boxes that you can tick for all the permissions, with columns for
users and administrators and the system, rather than the default XP "share
this folder" tick box. I cant for the life of me remember what I did to get
this. I think it may have something to do with disabling a service but
which one I dont know. Does anyone out there know how I managed to get
these file permissons?

Thanks,

Jake

I think this will do it for you -

Control Panel->Folder Options-> View->Advanced settings grouping
-> untick "Use simple file sharing [Recommended]".

Hello, Jake

Thank you for using newsgroup!

Based on your situation, we can change one setting of folder options to
solve this problem. Please perform the following steps.

1. Double click "My computer", and then click "tools".
2. Click "folder options", view, untick "Use simple file
sharing[Recemmanded]
3. Right click the folder that you want to share, click "properties". Click
"sharing".
4. Tick "share this folder". And then you can configure the parameters.
Note: If you cannot start folder options for some reason, double click
"folder options" icon in Control Panel.
