Old files/data, installed XP Pro on new drive

I just installed a new 80gig HD, old drive was removed during clean install.
After all the updates had been installed I installed the old drive as a slave
and the directories are all appearing except when I try to access each of the
old users documents and settings directory to copy music/pictures and old
documents I am unable to access the directories with the date ie:My music or
My pictures. What can I do to access these directories and move/copy all the
data I want to keep?
I have tried changing some of the directory properties etc?
