my dad's old computer is dying and he aint going to get a new one, but the
problem is this... a few months back he got a virus on the computer, toke it
to the computer shop, they fixed the problem, then they installed win 2000
pro on the computer, dont know why, but they did, it had win 98 on it before.
they internet access was dial-up 56k when it had 98 on it, but now with 2000
pro the speed is most the time 28.8Kbps, i thought it was the driver but i
cant find it anywhere i look online. then i was looking in the device manager
under modems the driver dated to 1999 then under system devices the Intel
83271AB/EB PCI To ISA bridge (ISA Mode) the driver dates to 2003, any idea
besides a new computer? the modem is a 3Com Windows Modem ISA ADI, on
location it says Intel 83271AB/EB PCI To ISA bridge (ISA Mode) it is a
Gateway computer Pentiem 2 with Windows 2000 PRO.
Thank you much and a Merry Christmas,
Randall

Uhm.. Did he purchase Windows 2000?

Either way - call the Computer Shop and figure out what they did and why -
they owe you at least an explanation and a license if they are going to put
a different Operating System than what was brought into them. Right now he
may be running something he doesn't own and if things go wrong - he has no
way of fixing it (or having anyone else fix it either.)

Look under "Communications" and report that information here or just go to
DriverGuide.com and search for the driver there.
