Old document is not recognized w/spell check, auto correct, etc.

I have a document that I use a great deal and have even re-created it,
difficult as it was, as it has a lot of names and addresses. Spell check,
auto correct doesn't work any longer, i.e., misspelling Phoenix as Phenix, is
not picked up, highlighted, etc. Please advise
 
If it's sufficiently old, it may have "Hide spelling errors in this
document" enabled on the Spelling & Grammar tab of Tools | Options. This is
the default for documents created in versions before "Check spelling as you
type" was introduced. If this is not the problem, press Ctrl+A to select the
entire document, then go to Tools | Language | Set Language and make sure
that the correct language is selected and that "Do not check spelling or
grammar" is not checked.
