Old disks, cannot use on W2002?

"I am using Word 2002 and tried to read from some 1994 diskettes today. I am
told "Microsoft Word 2002 path cannot be found so find WORD.MSI". These disks
were used and formatted on college computer, not this one at home. I DO have
Word 2002. Can I ever retrieve from the old diskettes? And What, or where is,
WORD.MSI? thank you.

WORD.MSI is a word installer and is probably being called to add a filter to
open these files. It will be on the Word 2002 install disc.

What application produced the files? Word 2002 was not around in 1994.

You must not attempt to open the files from floppy. It is the sureset way to
corrupt them. Copy to the hard drive and open them there.

"Graham", Hi! I just automatically assumed (ouch!) that the later computers
could work with just anything from the olden times. That using word 2002
wouldn't be the problem. I have misplaced the install disc; that is, someone
presented me with everything already installed - a gift - and the empty
container sits here... I will attempt to copy the disc to the hard drive and
many thanks Graham. Tamsim

Graham, Hi again: a p.s.: How would I copy a disc, a whole disc, to the "C"
drive? You do mean each individual file one by one, maybe? Many thanks. Tamsim
