OL2007 Beta 2 - RSS Feeds

It appears that there is a problem with the RSS feed reader in OL 2007 (Beta
2). I get frequent errors when trying to update feeds and today have
received no updates although I know that most of my feeds have been updated
several times today. Are there know bugs with the the OL2007 (B2) RSS
Reader with regards to updating feeds?

Thanks

Yep, others get endless duplicates on some items/feeds.

Try this:

1) Shutdown Outlook.

2) Go to your c:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook folder.

3) Delete the <profilename>.sharing.xml.obi file for the Outlook mail profile that you were using.

4) Restart Outlook.

If that doesn't work, you might want to provide feedback directly to Microsoft with the Send a Smile tool from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=A2E1F4E2-BC0F-4403-B09F-7A677D55F274. My only suggestion is that you remember that it's beta software. Hopefully, later versions will be more stable.

That would seem to be an acceptible answer if OL2007 b2 would not update any
feeds. Since it updates some feeds all the time, some feeds sporadically and
some feeds not at all (including some of the bundled ones from MSFT), I have
a problem accepting the standard auto-mechanic "they all do that." Reading
through the posts, other people are having the same issue.

The error message states in part "Run Setup again for the program." In your
(or anyone else's) opinion or experience, would uninstalling and reinstalling
Outlook solve this?

Two thoughts:

1. When intoducing a new feature or product, doesn't it logically follow
that MSFT would ensure that this new feature or product would be functional
as an incentive for me to spend $400.00?

2. If it wasn't Beta, don't you think I would be on the phone with a MSFT
tech instead of posting in a user group?

I understand Outlook 2007 is beta, and - overall - I'm happy with the
features and stability. What's odd about the issue with RSS feeds is that
it works for a day or two, and than stops updating. Also, the problem
doesn't appear with all feeds. I'm new to RSS and not using it all that
much, so I don't miss it, but this problem seems more of a setting than a
beta issue (I'm just guessing, but it's a semi-educated guess :).

Give it a shot. You can try Microsoft Office Diagnostics (All Programs,
Microsoft Office, Microsoft Office Tools) first.

MS is trying to do that with its beta versions. You are actually working
with a rather stable and functional product compared to previous beta
builds of it. This feature will be fully functional by the time Office
is released. Until then, these kinds of problems are to be expected.

Kinda missed this time around...

"You are actually working with a rather stable and functional product

Not my first rodeo... And I am overall satisfied with my Office 2007b
experience, especially the file compatibility thing with previous versions of
Office.

Could it be so simple as re-registering the OLE?

Your guess is as good as anyone's :)

Sue:

This worked for me, after adding step 5:

5) Add a new RSS feed.

Without this, my RSS feeds still weren't updating.

SA -

Even adding step 5 didn't fix it for me (other than the that the newly added
feed updated once and only once ... after that, back to the same errors).
