OL2003: messages in Outbox don't send when sending/receiving

When I have composed a message and hit "Send", the message
appears in the Outbox, but not in italics. When I then
connect and do a Send/Receive, I receive messages OK but
no sending takes place and the outgoing messages simply
stay in the Outbox.

I've read the Knowledge Base articles and there's nothing
there that helps.

I'm using Outlook 2003 under XP Home. I'm on travel with
my laptop, and E-mail Accounts are set to "connect using a
dial-up line".

Anyone have any helpful suggestions?

Hit CTRL + ALT + S and edit the send/receive group(s). Check what folders are included in
sending.
