OL2002 & NIS - Sent but not sent?

I use Windows XP Home, Outlook 2002 & Norton Internet Security 2005. Every
time I Send a new email, I get the message 'Unknown error - 0x80040109', &
the email message says 'Not Sent' & it stays in my Outbox. In fact it was
Sent, but the only way to clear my Outbox is to re-Send the message. Which
means that all my recipients get duplicated emails.

'Replies' or 'Forwards' are never a problem - only new outgoing emails. I
suspect some sort of clash or duplication between Windows Security & NIS,
but I can't figure it out. It is not a life-threatening problem but very
frustrating, & all help would be appreciated.
